it is hard to see, but the final frame shows the head of the statue of liberty…also the news report is from New York 1…so the film is yet another disaster movie wiping out new york. That being said ai agree with bruno that the regular guy perspective is interesting.

It’s pretty well known that J.J. Abrams is working on the lastest Star Trek movie while his other movie project “Cloverfield” is not so well known. So it is just assumed this is a preview for the next Star Trek movie. I thought so too at first when I saw the Bad Robot title thing…..but after watching the clip…it just didn’t seem like a Trek movie.

That being said, the trailer caught everyones attention and there was a lot of “What movie is that?” “Is that the new BLAH BLAH BLAH?” “They’re already making a Transformers 2!”

We’ll just have to wait and see

Can we PLEASE stop destroying New York and LA? It’s gotten old.

Maybe a movie could burn Phoenix to the ground for a change? (Hey, at least a huge fire here might make it a little cooler, what with it being 119° in town yesterday!)

Unfortunately, there’s not much here to blow up, except for maybe Chase Field…but yeah, it was freakin’ HOT yesterday, and today we’ve got a pollution advisory on top of that! Awesome.

Yeah, somebody with common sense must have seen this shaky cam mess(OGAM) and threw it in the toilet.

The trailer looks cool. But, story-wise, it’s ALWAYS easier to set up the problem than it is to hang an interesting story on it. That’s why Spielberg’s ‘War of the Worlds’ sucked. Great premise, lousy resolution (and stupid scientologist in the lead role.) Liked it until the point where the dumbass kid runs straight into the fighting, because he doesn’t want to miss it. After that, it was a mess of frayed story threads and haywire logic.
This ‘Cloverfield’ trailer does its “made ya look” job. What comes next? Who knows. I’ll read reviews before I plunk down 10 bucks to sit through it.
But, I’ll also try to keep an open mind.
By the way, aren’t the French getting pissed that we keep trashing Lady Liberty? (Planet of the Apes, Day After Tomorrow, Deep Impact, Ghost Busters II, X-Men… etc?)

I must admit, I read the description of the trailer previously but it looked pretty damn good on the screen, and for a so-called small indy movie, the effects looked very nice indeed.

Wow this one is being talked about on several film sites. That is smart marketing in my book. It will be interesting to see if the whole film is from a camcorder point of view. It might fall flat on it’s face or be really cool. Sort of BLAIR WITCH type film meets a giant monster type scenerio. Well now I am intrigued either way.

Cthulhu?

I think it’s a tie-in with Lost. The roar was heard on the island on the first night and a few times later in the season. The roar is accompanied by trees shaking and moving as if a creature was there doing it.

The roar in New York is accompanied with destruction, related to Lost? January’s release date coincides with Lost’s Season 4 premiere. I think it could be related to when Desmond in the hatch releases all the energy and it had global effects.

#60 - no offence that would be stupid. I never got into lost and for them to put a movie out about Lost before the show is off the air is not great timing. The teaser looks cool and i made me want to know more, did all those little games on the website. But if it all for the show Lost i will be really piss-off that all my excitment was for a show that i don’t even like anyway!

No offense taken, Julie. I was just tossing the idea out there. I know it’s a wild theory. Seemed a coincidence that the release date was so close to the start of Season 4 for Lost. Does have a similar vide if you ask me though, perhaps similar sounding roar due to the similar production personel.

Big cities get attacked because of the enormous skyscrapers and the recognizable landmarks. I mean, if this were set in Phoenix, it’d be, “Oh no! There was a giant explosion right in the middle of… the Tovrea Castle and Carraro Cactus Garden….the horror…”

What’s with the “lion” talk? I’ve heard other people say the girl’s saying “It’s alive” not “It’s a lion.”

I’m a little disappointed, though not surprised, that Paramount is cracking down on the YouTube videos. Disappointed because leaving them up there helps feed the Internet chatter, getting the fanbased all riled up, etc.

its been confirmed on several sites that the girl is saying its alive and also don’t forget to consider the movie is coming out in six months and they haven’t done any principal shooting for a ‘monster flick’, and its all being filmed on camcorders, this sounds like its going to be ‘the blair monster project’ and you’ll hear screeching, see some explosions but never a monster or alien or whatever, it will end up being a poorly themed movie with a good premise, kinda like LOST

It has been told that Godzilla has been put on hold until 2013, and from what my research has told me… Paramount does not have the rights to the Godzilla franchise… so the movie is definantely not going to be a Godzilla movie.
